The New Village Arts presents a drama by William Gibson about Golda Meir, the first female Prime Minister of Israel. The stage takes place on the eve of 1973 Yom Kippur War. As Golda draws nearer to the nuclear war, she reflects on her development, politically and spiritually. Rosina Reynolds plays Golda, directed by Todd Salovey. Tickets: $32-35 Buy them here.
Coastal Communities Concert Band and Arizona Wind Symphony
Carlsbad Community Church | Sunday, June 12th from 2pm to 4pm
The Coastal Communities Band will be under the direction of Tom Cole, featuring vocalist Michael Ruhl. They will be joined by the Arizona Wind Symphony who will be under the direction of Bill Richardson. Together, they will perform a concert titled As You Like It. Music will be played from various genres including “El Camino Royale”, “Italian Rhapsody”, “St. Luis Blues”, “Appalachian Spring”, “Swing’s the Thing”, “March from 1941”, and “Sounds of Hollywood”. Tickets: $12-15
Splash Into Summer
Alga Norte Aquatic Center | Saturday, June 11th from 5pm to 9pm
The aquatic center is starting off the summer with a preview of everything the center has to offer. This includes: classes, camps, movies and exciting summer fun events. Participants can swim in the heated pool, play on large inflatables, take a spin in the water balls and lay out on an air mattress in the instructional pool to watch a special presentation of A Bug’s Life, the Disney-Pixar movie. The center will also provide opportunities for all to learn about masters’ swim, water fitness classes, swimming lessons for all ages, individual and family passes, aquatic sports and junior lifeguarding camps. The fun starts at 5pm, and the movie begins at dusk. Tickets: $10/person. Kids ages 3 and under are free. What better way to have fun with the family out of the summer heat?
