Saturday, April 23rd from 5-9 p.m.
The City of Carlsbad will be celebrating their annual Pirate Plunge event this weekend at Alga Norte Aquatic Center. The celebration will be filled with pirate themed swimming pool games and activities like diving for treasure, cannonball crush, hook it, ship raider race and more. Activities outside of the water will be just as fun with a treasure hunt, pirate ship slide, tropical bounce house and photo opportunities. This event is great for all ages, and with a heated swimming pool, everyone can have a fun time playing the water games. The Dive-In Grill will be open during the event serving grilled burgers, chicken sandwiches, pizza shaved ice, ice cream and other yummy treats.
Friday Night Live Music
Friday, April 22nd from 6-8 p.m.
Friday Night Live is a fun night filled with music on the sidewalks of Carlsbad Village. Musicians will be playing music on the corners of Carlsbad Village and State Street every Friday night from April through October. Don’t miss out on one of these incredible nights while they last. For comfortability, don’t leave your Carlsbad home without bringing a folding chair and a lightweight sweater.

Big River is a Tony Award-winning musical that premiered at the La Jolla Playhouse. The show is based on The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain. It’s a must-see, so buy tickets while you still can and enjoy the show this weekend at the New Village Arts Theatre!
Jayme Stone’s Lomax Project
Sunday, April 24th at 7 p.m.
Jayme Stone is playing incredible music from his new album, the Lomax Project. The project focuses on songs collected by Alan Lomax, a folklorist and field recording pioneer. It revives, recycles and re-imagines traditional North American music, and includes Bahamian sea chanties, African-American acapella singing from the Georgia Sea Islands, ancient Appalachian ballads, fiddle tunes and work songs collected from various everyday people. This music is like nothing you’ve seen before, so if you’re not up to anything this weekend, treat yourself to a great family workshop at the Museum of Making Music. Learn about folk instruments and explore different performance practices. Sing, dance and clap together while learning about traditional repertoire.

Soul Fire is an amazing local Soul Jazz band playing with vintage equipment, warm tones and soulful arrangements. Every night is a good night to enjoy a bit of soul and jazz after a long day. Step out of the comfort of your Carlsbad house, and watch some of the local shows. You may run into your new favorite band or hangout. They will be playing on Friday night at the Coyote Bar and Grill on Carlsbad Village Drive.
Tai Chi Chuan

San Diego Guitar Festival

The Museum of Making Music will be hosting the newly formed San Diego Guitar Festival for an enjoyable evening with craft beer and two internationally acclaimed musicians: Kyle Patterson and Vladimir Gorbach.

Bluesman Billy Watson will be playing at the Coyote Bar and Grill on Sunday night. Watson is usually accompanied by the International Silver String Band, which is an all-star rotating cast of musicians from California’s music scene. The show is always mysterious, exciting, spontaneous and incredible.
